Advertising Age awards McGarrah Jessee Small Agency of the Year Gold, citing McGarrah Jessee's work with cult and challenger brands, such as Whataburger, whose fans have been known to travel across state lines to get their favorite burger, and YETI, who pioneered the premium cooler category with its pricey, grizzly-proof coolers. For YETI, the shop created a flagship concept that was more brand experience than retail store, where people drop by to enjoy a beer, take in a concert and be inspired by the outdoors.
2016 was a great year for the 20-year-old agency, which reported that revenue was up 26% year-over-year and boosted head count by 24%.
The agency's holistic brand thinking has fostered loyal clients, with an average tenure of nine years. Employees are loyal too, with turnover at a third of the industry average.
